Privacy

Plain-English version: we don't store the links you check, we only keep your email if you choose to subscribe, and we don't use tracking cookies. The details are below.

Last updated: July 2026

When you check a link

  • We don't store the links you check. The address is analyzed and the result is returned to you — nothing about it is saved on our servers.
  • To analyze it, the address is sent to Google Safe Browsing and to public malicious-URL databases (URLhaus)so they can tell us if it's known-bad. Those providers handle it under their own privacy terms.
  • Your IP address is used only in-memory, momentarily, to rate-limit abuse (so bots can't hammer the tool). It is not written to disk or linked to you.
  • We keep anonymous, aggregate statistics— how many links were checked and which red flags were most common — to power the “what we're seeing this week” section. These never include the addresses themselves.

When you subscribe to the newsletter

  • We store the email address you give us, plus the date, so we can send you the newsletter.
  • We don't sell or share your email. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Want your email removed? Send a note through our contact form and we'll delete it.

Bot protection

We use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell humans from bots on our forms. It processes a verification token in your browser. Turnstile is designed to be privacy-respecting and does not track you across sites.

Analytics & cookies

We use Google Analyticsto understand how people find and use the site — which pages are popular and roughly where visitors come from. It sets cookies and processes usage data under Google's privacy terms; what we see is aggregate, not tied to your identity (Google Analytics 4 anonymizes IP addresses). We don't currently run advertising cookies — if that changes, we'll update this page first.

Analytics only loads if you accept it.When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline — nothing loads until you choose, and you can change your mind anytime via “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page.

Contact

Questions about your data, or want it deleted? Reach us through the contact form.

The short version, again: the tool is built so there's nothing sensitive to leak — we don't keep what you check, and the only thing we hold is a newsletter email you gave us on purpose.
